How Long Does Invisalign Take?
Treatment duration depends on the complexity of your case. For straightforward concerns, treatment may take around six months. More involved cases can take up to eighteen months. Dr Phuong will give you a clearer indication of your expected timeline after reviewing your records at the planning stage.
What Needs to Happen Before Invisalign Starts
Before aligners can be ordered, your teeth need to be in good health. This means any outstanding decay, gum concerns, or fillings must be addressed first. Your teeth will also need to be cleaned. Once your oral health is stable, Dr Phuong can move ahead with gathering the records needed to begin planning your treatment.
Records and Treatment Planning
The records stage involves clinical photos, a 3D digital scan of your teeth, and X-rays. These are used to plan your treatment digitally, mapping out the intended movement of each tooth across the aligner series. Dr Phuong will walk you through the proposed plan and discuss it with you before anything is finalised. Once you are satisfied with the plan, the aligners are ordered and treatment begins.
Wearing Your Aligners
Invisalign aligners need to be worn for at least 22 hours per day to keep tooth movement on track. They are removed for brushing and flossing, eating, and drinking anything other than water. Consistent wear means more predictable movement and a more reliable treatment timeline. If aligners are regularly worn for less than the prescribed time, progress can slow or stall.
