Tooth Restorations at Melton Dental House
There are many dental solutions to restore teeth, and sometimes patients may require a combination of solutions. A dental examination will help us get a full picture of your mouth and oral health so we can customise a treatment plan for you. The following are some of the tooth restoration solutions we offer at Melton Dental House.
Dental fillings are the most common type of tooth restoration and are used to fill holes in teeth caused by decay or cavities. We offer both composite and porcelain fillings that bond with teeth to prevent further damage while restoring the function and look of the tooth. Learn More >>
Inlays and onlays are restorations that can fill in a larger hole or section of tooth that cannot be treated with a dental filling. Inlays and onlays restore the look and function of a tooth that has been damaged by decay.
Dental bonding is a type of restoration that is used to fix cracked, discoloured, and chipped teeth. Our skilled dentists can mould and shape a compost resin that will match or improve the colour of your tooth while filling in cracks or chips to help restore function of your tooth. Learn More >>
Dental crowns are tooth restorations that protect a tooth that has extensive damage. Sometimes teeth may become cracked or broken due to trauma, old cavities, or extensive decay, and fillings will not work. Dental crowns are restorations that fit over a tooth to protect the tooth and root, thus restoring it to its normal function and improving the look of the tooth. Learn More >>
Dental implants are used to replace a missing tooth and its root. Instead of living with a missing tooth, an implant can be inserted right into the jawbone to restore and preserve the integrity of the jawbone, while a dental crown will be placed on the implant to restore full function of the tooth. Learn More >>
Dental Veneers are thin coverings that are applied to the front of teeth that are visible when you talk or smile. These can restore the shape and function of a tooth that has been chipped, worn, or discolored, and are considered a permanent solution to quickly restore a tooth. Learn More >>
Bridges and Dentures are used to replace more than one tooth. These types of dental restorations offer patients a way to restore the full function of their mouth so they can chew, eat, and speak without worry. Learn More >>
Two Types of Restorations
Direct Restoration
A direct restoration is when the dentist works directly in your mouth to place a tooth restoration, such as a dental filling to fill a cavity. This type of restoration is often completed in one office visit and is an efficient way to protect a tooth from further damage.
Indirect Restoration
This type of tooth restoration is created outside of your mouth with the help of x-rays, scans, or teeth moulds. This type of restoration includes inlays and onlays, dental crowns and bridges, dental veneers and dentures. They often require more than one office visit. However, in many cases, we can create a temporary prosthesis so you can go on with your life while we complete the restoration. We then have you back to place the restoration and provide instructions for care.
Creating and Fitting Your Tooth Restorations
Our skilled dentists will do a full evaluation with a dental examination to see what type of dental restoration you require. If more than one option is appropriate, we will discuss the options with you so you can choose the best solution to fit your expectations and your wallet.
Restorations are created by our skilled dental technicians who use the latest technology to ensure your tooth restoration is comfortable and functional. Direct restorations are applied directly to your tooth by our skilled dentists, who will ensure you are comfortable and taken care of during your visit.
When we apply indirect restorations, your tooth will be prepared for the type of restoration you will receive. Preparation will include removing decay and helping heal any infections to ensure your oral health is restored. Then we will prepare your tooth to ensure your restoration will fit well and feel secure and comfortable.

Are There Risks?
Tooth restorations carry some risks, as any dental solution does. Risks depend on your oral health, such as the depth of any existing infection or decay, and if there is any nerve damage. In some cases, a tooth restoration may weaken tooth structure because there is already extensive damage. But restorations can help save a tooth for longer in many cases.
Our team at the Melton Dental House will find the best solution to ensure your restoration is as low risk and safe as possible while providing the best possible structure and durability. At the same time, we are always open and transparent about the costs and offer flexible treatments and family-affordable pricing because we believe that oral health should be an option for all of our patients.
