Invisalign at Melton

With the rise of social media and online meetings, more patients than ever are flocking to Invisalign to upgrade their smiles with straighter teeth. Invisalign is the original creator of aligner trays and has a proven track record of helping patients improve their smiles since 1999. Our team of experienced dentists are skilled with Invisalign and will help guide you through the process safely and effectively.

Invisalign Versus Braces

Invisalign Versus Braces at Melton-Melton Dental House

Braces are the traditional solution to straighten teeth and are great for patients with severely crooked teeth. But patients with teeth that are moderately crooked or with mild to moderate bite issues might consider Invisalign to straighten their teeth.

Instead of metal braces that are attached to the teeth, Invisalign utilises a series of clear aligner trays that fit over your teeth. They can be removed for cleaning and each tray gently moves the teeth closer to their ideal position. Many patients prefer them because they are virtually invisible, so going to Zoom meetings or taking photos for social media is no problem.

Invisalign Technology

Invisalign clear aligner trays are made with BPA-free plastic that fits snugly over your teeth. Each tray is worn for about two weeks and the entire process to straighten your teeth may take about two years, but it depends on your teeth before treatment begins. Patients enjoy the low profile so that most people don’t know you are wearing them. And Invisalign stands above other clear aligners thanks to their ongoing innovative technology.

We begin with a dental examination and evaluation that may include a combination of digital x-rays, scans and photos which helps us plan your treatment. Then we use ClinCheck, a specialised software that will collect your data and help us customise your treatment plan. Your treatment will then be monitored throughout the alignment process, and with the following features, we can ensure your treatment is efficient and effective.

\
Invisalign’s SmartTrack material applies a gentle, yet consistent force to control tooth movements and guide them into place. Specially engineered for Invisalign, this material is made of a medical-grade plastic that is not only clear, but thin, strong and flexible.
\

SmartStaging technology is Invisalign’s customised program that creates Invisalign trays so that each tooth moves in a certain sequence at the right time. This allows for improved predictability and the best outcomes for patients. You can be confident you will get the smile you desire once your treatment is complete.

\

SmartForce features ensure teeth move in the proper direction and at the right time. These are attachments and features that assist the aligner trays and are individual to each patient. SmartForce may include the use of Bite Ramps, Precision Cuts and Power Ridges to address an array of clinical situations.

The Benefits of Invisalign Teeth Alignment

The most obvious benefit of Invisalign is the clear aligner trays that will straighten your teeth without the need for a mouthful of metal. But there are many other benefits that patients enjoy with the clear aligner technology including the following:

Less office visits and less treatment time than traditional braces

Less cost than traditional braces
Comfortable compared to metal braces that can scratch or cause abrasions
No need for brace tightening visits that can be uncomfortable
Less jaw and head pain that metal brace adjustments sometimes cause
Trays are removable so you can brush your teeth and clean your trays with ease
Trays are comfortable to wear during sports
More freedom with mealtime since you don’t have to worry about foods sticking in metal brackets
If you need a break from wearing your trays for a special occasion like a wedding or graduation, simply remove them and let us know so we can guide you with any specific instructions

Invisalign Patients

Invisalign is best suited for teeth that are mild to moderately crooked or out of line. They can improve your bite and your smile, but if your teeth are very crooked or displaced, braces might be a better solution for you. Our skilled dentists will do a full exam and evaluation to determine the best option for you. If you are considering Invisalign, these are ideal situations that can be improved:

Overbite or underbite
Crossbites
Mildly or moderately crooked teeth
Crowded teeth
Mild gaps in teeth
Narrow dental arch

What to Expect When Getting Invisalign

Once we determine you are a candidate for Invisalign clear aligners, the following steps are what you can expect with the Invisalign process.

We will take a combination of x-rays, scans and photos that will be used to begin creating your custom treatment plan.
Once your data is input into the Invisalign lab, your first set of Invisalign custom trays will be created
When your trays are ready, you will come for you fitting appointment to receive your first set of trays with instructions for care and maintenance
Each tray will be worn for about two weeks, at least 20 to 22 hours each day
When you are near the end of your first set of trays, you will return for another visit with us so the dentist can monitor your progress and present you with your next set of trays
We will be with you through the Invisalign process from beginning to end so we can monitor your treatment and make adjustments as needed
When your Invisalign treatment is complete, you may receive a retainer to wear for a while to help ensure your teeth remain in their new positions
Keep in mind that when you first begin wearing each tray, it may feel uncomfortable at first. This is because the tray is not created to fit your teeth exactly as they are, they are meant to help move them into a better position. Each tray will feel more comfortable as you wear them more, and each tray will bring your teeth closer to your new smile.
