Invisalign at Melton

Invisalign is the alternative dental solution to traditional braces to align teeth. They are a top choice for both teenagers and adults, thanks to their low profile and greater comfort. You can begin the teeth straightening process today and carry on with your work and social life without the worry of metal braces getting in the way.

What is Invisalign Teeth Straightening?

Invisalign is a technology that straightens your teeth with clear trays that fit over your teeth. During treatment, you will get a series of trays that are worn for about two weeks each, and each tray brings your teeth into their ideal position. The BPA-free plastic trays fit over your current teeth and are worn while you go about your daily business. They are removable, making eating and cleaning your teeth much easier than with traditional braces.

The Technology of Invisalign

Invisalign is a clear alternative treatment to traditional braces. Their SmartTrack material provides a constant force for gentle yet steady movement of your teeth. The material is BPA-free so you can rest easy knowing the aligners are non-toxic. SmartStaging technology is used to program the movement of each tooth in the correct order to ensure optimal outcomes. This technology means greater predictability for your treatment so you know what your results will be ahead of time. SmartForce features are the attachments and designs used to deliver precise, customised force to ensure your teeth move into the ideal position for your smile.

At Melton Dental, you will receive a combination of digital x-rays, 3D scanning and treatment planning so we can create the ideal custom system for you. Clincheck, Invisalign’s specialised software, will incorporate your information and design your personalised treatment plan. Periodic visits with us will help us track your progress and ensure the treatment is going as planned. And if there is a change, we can easily adjust your treatment so you get the smile you’re looking for.

Invisalign Benefits

In some situations, braces are the ideal way to straighten teeth, but they are not necessary for every patient. Many can use Invisalign and benefit from the lower cost and efficiency of this dental solution. The following are just some of the benefits of using Invisalign to align your teeth.

Less Treatment Time means less cost for you. Traditional braces often require multiple dental visits to adjust the braces, but Invisalign eliminates the need for extra office visits and less office payments. In some cases, Invisalign can straighten teeth in 9-12 months, which means you can enjoy your dream smile sooner.

Improved Comfort is one of the top benefits of Invisalign. Metal braces can sometimes scratch gums or cause small abrasions inside the mouth. But Invisalign trays are made of a smooth plastic that is comfortable even when you talk. And because there is less force used to straighten teeth, the integrity of your tooth enamel is protected.
Lower the Risk of jaw or head pain. Traditional, metal braces require periodic tightening during orthodontic visits. When the wires and metal brackets are tightened, they can sometimes lead to pain due to the pressure put on the teeth. But Invisalign gently moves your teeth into alignment, slowly and gently. You may have mild discomfort the first day or two of each new tray, but as your teeth move into place with the tray, the discomfort fades.
No-Diet Restrictions are required with Invisalign treatment. When metal braces are worn, patients must be careful of foods that can stick and get caught in wire braces and brackets. But you can remove Invisalign trays while you eat, avoiding the need to restrict certain foods. And while we always promote eating a healthy diet for improved oral health, we know that you will also enjoy the freedom of Invisalign while you eat.
Play sports because it is not a problem with Invisalign. You do not have to worry about scratches or wounds that sometimes happens when playing sports with metal braces. Your Invisalign trays will stay in place so you can play and can be removed if you need to wear a mouthguard.
Quicker Treatment Time is a favoured patient benefit. Traditional braces can take years to work while repeated orthodontic visits might prolong the process due to scheduling. Invisalign trays come in sets so you can move to the next stage when you are ready. You will need follow-up visits to ensure your treatment is on schedule, but overall, your teeth will be straightened in less time.
Take a break from treatment if you need. While consistency is always ideal for improved treatment time, we know that life happens. If you have an upcoming event such as a wedding or graduation, it is possible to take a break from treatment for a few days or even a couple of weeks, if necessary. Since the trays are removable, you can simply remove them and when you are ready, pick up where you left off. A quick visit with us will ensure you are on the right track and we can adjust your treatment trays, if necessary.

Who Can Use Invisalign?

Invisalign is the ideal solution for patients with mild to moderate misalignment teeth issues. Those with severely displaced teeth may be better suited with traditional braces. A dental exam and consultation will help us easily identify if you are a candidate for Invisalign. The following are the ideal situation for this technology.

Crowded teeth
Gaps in teeth
Overbite and Underbite
Crossbite
Narrow but mild dental arches
Some misalignment issues with children, as Invisalign may protect teeth from moving further out of place

Are You Ready?

A thorough dental exam will help us determine if Invisalign is the correct solution for you. If it is, you can expect the following steps to take place:

You will receive x-rays of your teeth along with 3D scans and possibly moulds
This information will be added to your Clincheck profile
The Invisalign lab will create a specific treatment for your teeth with a series of alignment trays
Your next appointment will be scheduled so you can receive your first set of trays and instructions
