How the Digital Denture Process Works
At Melton Dental House, digital dentures are designed with the end result planned before any treatment begins. Using computer-aided design, your clinician can create and review multiple designs, trial the planned denture, and refine the outcome before committing to the final stage. This means decisions about fit, tooth position, and aesthetics are made in advance rather than adjusted after the fact.
Trialling Your Denture Before Extraction
One of the advantages of the digital process is that the planned denture can be trialled before any teeth are removed. This gives both the patient and the clinician an opportunity to review the proposed design and make adjustments before treatment proceeds.
Temporary Dentures During the Healing Phase
Once teeth have been removed, the gum tissue takes up to three months to fully heal and settle into its final shape. During this period, a temporary denture is provided so that patients can eat and function while the gum heals. The temporary denture also serves as a clinical reference point for the final design.
Moving to the Final Denture
At the three-month review, your clinician will assess the fit and function of the temporary denture. If the design is clinically confirmed, the final denture is produced based on that same design. Because everything is stored digitally, producing the final set does not require repeating the full planning process from scratch.
